Our June webinar will feature a conversation with our Legislative Consultant, Jenny Arneson and Executive Director, Karen Goodenough. They will provide a recap of the legislative session, including updates on policies supported in our legislative agenda. Engage in a discussion about legislative wins and where we still need to advocate. Your input will help us frame our work going forward.

About the Presenters

Jenny Arneson, MSW, LGSW, joined the NASW-MN team in 2021. She earned her BSW from St. Olaf and MSW from the University of Minnesota. She has a range of professional experience including group work, emergency food and financial services, and county services. After spending years connecting direct practice to macro policy, Jenny ran for office and joined the Minneapolis School Board in 2011, where she has engaged in policy since. After spending four years living in Fort Drum, NY, as a military spouse Jenny settled in her hometown, Legislative District 60A, with her husband, Patrick, and three sons.

Karen Goodenough, MSW, LGSW, is Executive Director of the National Association of Social Workers, MN Chapter. She received her BSW from St. Olaf College, MSW from Augsburg College, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D in social work at the University of Minnesota. Karen is a community faculty member in the Masters of Social Work Program at the University of Minnesota teaching macro practice courses in Program Development, Leadership, Budgeting, Fundraising, and Social Policy. Previously Karen was Director of Youth and Family programs for a non-profit in North Minneapolis for 12 years, worked as a consultant helping organizations collect and utilize meaningful data and facilitating strategic planning, and served as adjunct faculty in the MSW programs at Augsburg College, the University of St. Thomas/St. Catherine, St. Cloud State University, and St. Olaf College.
