Being a Savior Saves Nobody (The White Savior Complex)

Lunch N Learn Webinar

Presenter: Brittany Clausen, LGSW

1.5 CEU

This webinar addresses the harmful inequities of folks adopting the White Savior Complex/White Saviorism in practice while doing community service work. While many good-intentioned folks work to serve the community, oftentimes, they adopt characteristics of white supremacy in serving disenfranchised communities of color based on ignorance, lack of self-awareness and lack of community input. This leads to a continuance of distrust and disengagement for community members in our society.

This webinar will teach you how to defy the White Savior Complex by learning mindfulness, action planning, and inclusive leadership practices. This webinar welcomes a community learning style to resolve white supremacy and systemic racism across all professions. You will advance your leadership skills by learning practices to influence personal, professional, team and organizational change. You will walk away with practical strategies that will allow community members to partner alongside you in community service work rather than you doing this work alone.

You will receive the access link the day before the webinar.
