PRESENTERS: Melinda Coscarelli, PhD, LPCC, LADC, MnFIRE Mental Health Director and Jen Traw, MnFIRE Case Manager LADC, LPCC (in progress)   

“Critical Incidents, Traumatic Situations and Emergency Responses”. What’s the Difference Between these Events, Are there different Modalities for Working with These Events, How do You Know if You are Cut Out for This Kind of Work, How Do you Get Started? We will answer all of these questions and many more.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS:

Melinda has conducted several debriefings, CISMs, suicide interventions, postventions and emergency response calls. She has several certifications in crisis, trauma, suicide awareness and intervention modalities at the corporate level and for the first responder community. She also does several trainings for leadership groups and health care professionals. She has her own mental, emotional and substance use practice in Oakdale primarily working with first responders and health care professionals. When she isn’t working, she likes traveling to interesting places, playing on the lake or playing with her grand kids.

Jen is a former Police Officer from San Francisco. She has worked as a patrol officer and as an instructor at the San Francisco Police Academy. She served as a volunteer in the Peace Corps in Madagascar and also played Division 1 Soccer.  She has conducted several suicide intervention and emergency response calls. She has certifications in several crisis, trauma and suicide awareness and prevention modalities. She is currently completing her Masters Degree at Hazelden Betty Ford. She has a passion for helping and supporting the first responder, older adult, LGBTQ+ and SUD populations.  She is looking forward to collaborating and embarking on a new chapter focusing on holistic wellness. When she’s not busy working, she enjoys her motorcycle, fishing and pinball
