Conducting Ethical Telemental Health Counseling

Conducting Ethical Telemental Health Counseling

April 21-23, 2020 - 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. each day

This is an online training series via Zoom Meetings

Presenters: Charlie Safford, LCSW; and Ken Scroggs, LCSW, LPC, LMFT, CEAP, DCC

COVID-19 in the US has highlighted the need for adaptability in how mental health services are provided to clients and communities. However, social workers have been looking into providing remote services using technology for several years, long before the current pandemic.

If you...
  • have briefly explored what it would take to deliver telehealth services for your practice

  • are looking for more than basic information on considerations for telehealth practice in Minnesota

  • are ready to take your understanding of telehealth to the next level and integrate it into your social work practice

...then this series is for you.

Presenting an in-depth, nine-hour conference over three days on how to provide best practice telemental health (TMH) counseling; from the point of pre-screening clients for the appropriateness of this service delivery model, to assessment  individual sessions, and termination, including important ethical issues related to privacy and confidentiality using e-communication devices.

This program will provide you with experiential learning using best practice forms, templates, systems and structures to prepare you for engaging in ethical and competent TMH practice.

All three days of the series will include interactive scenario analysis, interactive role playing, and the practice of techniques incorporating knowledge from the presentation of material.

You will also receive a workbook covering definitions, research, legal and ethical issues, delivery methods, theory integration, risk management, and more - written for the context of social work practice in Minnesota.
