Join Melissa Conway, LICSW and Senior Director of Clinical Education and Case Management at Minnesota Mental Health Clinics, for an advanced practice training focused on the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicide (CAMS) model. This session will provide an in-depth exploration of the CAMS framework, its history, and underlying philosophy, while contrasting it with traditional approaches to suicide prevention. Participants will gain hands-on experience with the key components of CAMS, including conducting suicide status assessments, core and risk assessments, and effective treatment planning.
The training will cover critical skills for the first session, include stabilization planning and strategies for focusing interim sessions using the CAMS therapeutic worksheet. Additionally, we will explore the final session process using the Living Status Form, with an emphasis on transitioning from the CAMS model back to traditional therapeutic care.
By the end of this session, participants will be equipped with advanced tools and strategies to assess and manage suicidal risk effectively, immediately applicable to clinical practice for improving patient outcomes and reducing the risk of harm.
