Social Policy Action Network (SPAN)

What is SPAN?

NASW-MN’s SPAN committee works to maximize NASW-MN Members’ contact with elected officials; to advance the chapter's social policy agenda; and to provide learning opportunities around social policy issues important to social workers.

What does SPAN do?

SPAN’s activities include:

  • Development of the annual Legislative Agenda
  • Writing policy-related articles distribution to NASW-MN Members
  • Planning and organizing policy events and continuing education opportunities, combining policy and practice issues
  • Preparing policy action alerts for NASW-MN members.

Join SPAN!

The SPAN committee meets virtually on the third Wednesday of the month September through May. We welcome new members in September as we develop our legislative agenda, and again in January as we begin our advocacy work. We are specifically looking for wide representation from members across the state.

If you are interested in joining SPAN and contributing to social work policy advocacy in Minnesota, contact NASW-MN at 651-293-1935 or admin.naswmn@socialworkers.org.
